The bassoon in music
The bassoon is the low double-reed instrument. In an orchestra it supplies the bass of the woodwind group, and it can be warm and serious or funny and gruff. Film composers use it for comic walks and for dark, creeping lines. In a pop or rock track you rarely hear it, and when you do it is usually in the arrangement of a ballad or a studio piece.
Bassoonists use the Bassoon file to learn the tricky solos in orchestral pieces. Orchestrators check how it doubles the cellos. People making sample libraries want a clean low line.
What it gets confused with
In the low register the bassoon sounds like a cello, a tuba, or a baritone sax. The Bassoon file may carry parts of those if they play in unison. Try the Tuba Extractor, Trombone Extractor or Saxophone Extractor if you suspect one of them is in the line. Its higher relative is the Oboe Extractor, and the Clarinet Extractor overlaps in the middle. The group page is the Woodwind Extractor.
Hard and easy
An exposed bassoon solo is easier. A bassoon doubling the cellos and basses in a loud passage is hard, because they share notes and color.

How much does it cost to extract a bassoon?
1 credit for every minute of the song, shown on the button before it runs. New accounts get 5 credits. Failed jobs are refunded.
Why did cello sounds end up in the bassoon file?
Both play low and can double the same line, so the model sometimes cannot tell them apart.
What formats can I use?
Upload MP3, WAV, M4A or FLAC up to 10 minutes. Each output is an MP3 at 320 kbps.
