The flute in a song
The flute plays high, light lines. You hear it in classical pieces, in film themes with a pastoral feel, in jazz, in soul and funk records, and in folk music of many countries. In a pop chorus it often adds a short fill or doubles the melody an octave up.
Flute players use the Flute file to learn a solo by ear, slowing the track down and looping a phrase. Sample makers pick a clean run for a beat. Singers who want a karaoke version without the flute use Without the flute.
Flute, whistle or synth?
A flute playing high can sound like a tin whistle, a recorder or a lead synth. If the part you want is a whistle, try the Whistle Extractor. Clarinet and oboe have a different color but sit in a similar part of the arrangement, so use the Clarinet Extractor or the Oboe Extractor to compare. A sax is a fuller sound; see the Saxophone Extractor. For all woodwinds at once, use the Woodwind Extractor, and for every horn the Wind Instrument Extractor.
To notes
A single flute line turns into a decent draft in Audio to MIDI. Fast trills and breathy notes will need editing.
FAQ
How much does it cost to extract a flute?
1 credit for every minute of the song, shown on the button before it runs. New accounts get 5 credits. Failed jobs are refunded.
Why is there flute left in the other file?
Quiet, breathy or very high flute notes can hide behind cymbals and vocals. The model is good, not perfect.
Does it work on live recordings?
Yes, though a live room adds reverb and bleed, so expect more leftovers.
What file formats can I use?
Upload MP3, WAV, M4A or FLAC up to 10 minutes. Outputs are 320 kbps MP3 files.
