What is a braam?
A braam is the huge, low, brassy blast you hear in movie trailers and action scenes. It is a short, heavy hit, often built from layered brass and synths, that lands on a cut or a title card and then decays. The name is an imitation of the sound. It became a trailer cliche after it was used in big film scores, and today it is part of the standard cinematic toolkit.
A braam is a sound effect more than a melody. It marks a moment: a reveal, a punch, a cut to black.
Who wants one on its own
- Trailer and cinematic composers who want to study or sample how a braam was layered.
- Video editors who need a hit for a title or transition.
- Sound designers collecting impacts for a library.
- Producers who want a braam removed so a track can be reused without it.
What to expect
A clean braam is loud and low, which helps. It works best on cinematic tracks where the hit is a distinct moment with the music dropping out around it. When a braam is hidden under a full orchestra, drums and a riser, some of it stays in the other file, and some of the track may land in the braam file.
Braams usually come with other trailer sounds. For the rising tension before the hit, try the Riser Extractor. For general effects, use the Sound Effects Extractor. If you want the horn section on its own, the Brass Extractor is the better fit.
FAQ
How much does it cost?
1 credit per minute of audio, shown on the button before you start. New accounts get 5 credits after signing in with Google. Failed jobs are refunded.
Is a braam the same as a drum hit or an impact?
They overlap, but a braam is a tonal, brassy blast with a long low body. A drum hit is percussive and short. If you want drums, see the Drum Remover.
Does it work on any song?
It is meant for cinematic music with braam-style hits. A track without one will not have much to pull out.
What files can I upload, and what do I get?
