How to split a song with the 5-stem splitter
- Upload the song. MP3, WAV, M4A or FLAC, up to 10 minutes. You sign in with Google the first time.
- Press Split the song. This page costs 4 credits for every minute of music, more than most pages on the site, and the button shows the exact price before anything runs. A 4-minute song is 16 credits. New accounts start with 5 credits, which covers a short clip of about a minute. It may take longer than a basic split.
- Mix and download. Seven rows come back, one per part. Switch each on or off to hear it alone or in a mix, and download any of them as an MP3 at 320 kbps. If processing fails, your credits are returned.
What you get
- Vocals and Instrumental (the song without the vocals)
- Bass
- Drums
- Piano
- Guitar
- Other, which holds whatever is left after the rest are taken out
Despite the name, you see seven rows, because the Instrumental row and the Other row are there for convenience on top of the five main instruments.
Why the "best quality" version
This page uses an ensemble of models. The approach behind it took second place at the Music Demixing Track of the Sound Demixing Challenge 2023, and the individual stem models inside it have since been improved. An ensemble runs several models and combines what they find, so it costs more per minute than the quicker options such as the 4-Stem Splitter.
Choose it when the result matters more than the price: a remix you plan to release, a stem you need to sample, a backing track for a live show. For quick practice, the cheaper pages are usually enough.
Piano and guitar, kept apart
Most splitters leave piano and guitar buried in one "other" part. Here they get their own rows, so a pianist can mute the piano and play it, and a guitarist can do the same with the guitar. For one instrument only, the Piano Extractor and Guitar Remover do that job at a lower price. If you want even more parts, such as strings, wind and the individual drums, see the 7-Stem Splitter.
Piano and guitar are often close in sound, especially with clean electric guitar and soft chords. Where they play in the same range, some of one may show up in the other. Dense, live or heavily reverbed songs have more of this.
FAQ
How much does the 5-stem splitter cost?
4 credits for every minute of the song. The button shows the price before you start, and failed runs are refunded. New accounts get 5 credits.
Why are there seven rows if it says 5 stems?
The five main instruments are vocals, bass, drums, piano and guitar. The Instrumental and Other rows are extras so you can grab a backing track or a leftover mix quickly.
How is it different from the home page?
The home page is the everyday splitter. This one uses a heavier model combination aimed at cleaner results, and it costs more per minute.
What files do I get?
One MP3 at 320 kbps for each row you download.
