What counts as plucked strings
These are string instruments sounded by plucking or strumming rather than a bow: harp, mandolin, banjo, ukulele, sitar, dobro and similar. They tend to have a bright attack and a note that fades fast. That sharp start is what the model uses to tell them apart from sustained strings.
If you want one instrument only, pick its page: Harp Extractor, Mandolin Extractor, Banjo Extractor, Ukulele Extractor, Sitar Extractor or Dobro Extractor. Guitars have their own tools, the Guitar Remover and the Acoustic Guitar Extractor.
When this page is the right one
Use the group file when a song stacks several plucked instruments and you want all of them together, or when you do not know which one you are hearing. A folk or bluegrass track might have mandolin and banjo playing together. A pop song might have a ukulele under a harp glissando.
- Producers can remove the whole plucked layer and keep the vocals and rhythm.
- Players can learn from the combined texture before they dig into one part.
- Sample makers get a clean plucked bed.
Where it struggles
Bowed strings, such as violin and cello, are not meant to land here; use the Bowed Strings Extractor for those. A heavily strummed acoustic guitar can leak into this file, because it shares the same attack and range.
FAQ
How much does it cost?
1 credit per minute of song, shown on the button. New accounts get 5 credits.
Does it include guitar?
Guitars have separate pages. Some guitar can still show up in the file when it plays alongside the other instruments.
How clean is the result?
Good, not perfect. Busy mixes and live recordings leave bleed in both files.
What formats can I use?
Upload MP3, WAV, M4A or FLAC up to 10 minutes. Downloads are MP3 at 320 kbps.
