The dobro in a song
A dobro is a resonator guitar, built with a metal cone in the body that makes it loud and bright without amplification. It is usually played lap-style with a steel bar, which gives long glides between notes and a crying, singing tone. It belongs to bluegrass, country, Americana and roots music, where it fills the gaps between vocal lines with slides, fills and solos.
Who wants it alone
- Dobro and slide players who want to hear a bar technique clearly, slow down a slide and copy the phrasing.
- Bluegrass and country bands that need a track without the dobro for rehearsal.
- Producers who want to lift a fill that was buried under the vocal.
- Sample makers who need a slide phrase.
Dobro or pedal steel?
Both slide, and both appear in country music, so they are the usual mix-up. A pedal steel is usually smoother and more sustained, with big sweeping bends and a lush, almost vocal swell. A dobro is sharper at the start of the note and has a metallic edge. If the track has a pedal steel, use the Pedal Steel Extractor. An acoustic guitar can also leak into the file; the Acoustic Guitar Extractor is the page for it. The Banjo Extractor and the Plucked Strings Extractor are good companions for bluegrass tracks.
FAQ
How much does it cost?
1 credit per minute, shown on the button before it runs. New accounts get 5 credits.
Is a dobro the same as a pedal steel?
No. A dobro is an acoustic resonator guitar played with a bar. A pedal steel is a pedal and lever instrument, usually electric. They can sound close, so check both files if unsure.
Why is there acoustic guitar in the dobro file?
They play at the same time in many songs, so some overlap can happen.
What formats can I use?
