  2. Press Extract the synth. The price is on the button before it runs: 1 credit per minute of the song. New accounts start with 5 credits.
  3. Listen and download. Two reels appear, Synth and Without the synth. Click one to hear it alone, then download it as an MP3 at 320 kbps.

If processing fails, your credits are returned.

What synths do in a song

A synthesizer makes its sound electronically, so one name covers a huge range: deep sub-bass, bright leads that carry the tune, wide pads that wash behind the vocal, plucky arpeggios, stabs, risers and sweeps. Synths are at the center of pop, dance, electronic, synthwave, hip-hop and a lot of rock, and they show up in film scores and game music too.

Since they can sit anywhere in the frequency range, they can be the melody, the chords, the bass or just atmosphere. A track may have five or six of them at once.

Who wants it alone, or gone

  • Producers who want to hear how a lead or arpeggio was written, or to sample a pad.
  • Remixers who want to keep the vocals and drums and replace the synths with their own.
  • Musicians who want to play the synth part on keys or guitar and need the original out of the way.
  • Content makers who want the synth lower under a voice, or off a track that is too busy.

If you isolate a lead or arpeggio, you can send it to Audio to MIDI with Piano / keys, or Vocals / humming for a single melody line, and get the notes to load into your own synth.

What it gets confused with

Synths imitate other instruments, which is the main challenge:

  • Organ and electric piano patches. See the Organ Extractor and the Electric Piano Extractor.
  • String and choir pads, which sound like real strings or voices, and also like a mellotron. See the Mellotron Extractor.
  • Synth bass, which can end up with the bass rather than the synth file.
  • Distorted guitar, which has a similar buzz.

If you want all keys and synth-like parts gathered, use the Keyboard Extractor.

FAQ

How much does it cost?

1 credit for every minute of the song, shown on the button before it runs. New accounts get 5 credits.

Does it find every synth sound?

It looks for synth parts in general, but there are so many tones that some will stay in Without the synth, and some other sounds may land in Synth.

Will it be perfectly clean?

No. Dense electronic mixes with layered sounds leave leftovers. Listen with headphones.

What formats can I use?

Upload MP3, WAV, M4A or FLAC up to 10 minutes. Download each result as an MP3 at 320 kbps.
