Unmix Studio wrote this page and is one of the two products it compares. StemSplit details come from stemsplit.io. Prices checked November 2026; they change, so confirm on its pricing page before you pay.

The short version: StemSplit is the better pick if you want to paste a YouTube link, call an API, or pay a small amount for a short clip. Unmix Studio is the better pick if you split full songs and want a lower price per minute at larger sizes, 100+ single-instrument extractors, or a studio player with speed and loop controls.

Where StemSplit is better

  • YouTube and SoundCloud links. You can paste a link and skip the download. Unmix Studio takes files only, and a video file you already have (MP4 or MOV).
  • An API. Credits work through a REST API with webhooks. We have none.
  • Small purchases. The $2 pack is useful when you need one short clip split. Our packs are larger, and a cheaper starter pack is coming; see the pricing page.
  • FLAC downloads and more input formats. Several formats we do not take, such as OGG and OPUS.

Where Unmix Studio is better

  • Lower price per minute. At our larger pack sizes the cost per minute is well under StemSplit's, and even our current smallest pack is under $0.10 a minute. Compare your own volume on the two pricing pages.
  • 100+ single-instrument extractors. Cello, harp, marimba, pedal steel and many more as separate pages, plus the Every Instrument Splitter and the drum kit splitter that gives kick, snare, toms, hi-hat, ride and crash.
  • Practice tools after the split. Slow a part down without changing the pitch and loop a hard bar.
  • Lead and backing vocals. Separate Lead and Backing Vocals gives four files, including the band with harmonies but no lead singer.
  • A visible cost. The button shows what the song will cost before it runs.

How to switch from StemSplit to Unmix Studio

  1. Open the stem splitter and sign in with Google. You get 5 credits, no card.
  2. Download your source as a file first if you were using a link. We take MP3, WAV, M4A and FLAC, or an MP4 or MOV video.
  3. Pick MP3 or WAV, then press the orange key. The cost shows on it.
  4. Mute parts, solo them, slow them down, loop a section, then download what you need.

A note on sound quality

Both services run AI models, and results follow the song. Clean studio mixes split well; live recordings and dense mixes leave bleed. We do not claim better quality. Split the same track in both, match the volume, and listen on headphones.
